Toto - I Won't Hold You Back

From Wikipedia: "I Won't Hold You Back" is a ballad by the American pop-rock band Toto, written by Steve Lukather for their fourth album, Toto IV and released in 1982 (see 1982 in music). The song reached the top ten, peaking at #10 in the U.S. on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Check also the lyrics.

Roxette - Queen Of Rain

The single "Queen of Rain" was the second single taken from Swedish pop duo Roxette's album, "Tourism: Songs from Studios, Stages, Hotelrooms & Other Strange Places." I don't think I can explain anymore about Roxette other than they are really great singers. Check the lyric's here.

Garbage - When I Grow Up

Garbage has quite extensive pop rock song. Some of them has quite weird tunes, but some of them was very expressive. One of my favorite was "When I Grow Up" taken from their "Version 2.0" album in 1998. The song was also the theme of Big Daddy soundtrack. Find the song's lyric here.

The song has many live version in YouTube. One of them is here, taken from MTV Live.

There's also another excellent live version. I don't know from where, but it's a great one.

Cranberries - Salvation

Cranberries was one of my long time favorite group. The singer, Dolores O'Riordan has a very unique voice that I don't think can't be compared to anyone. Cranberries's video was sometimes unique, and sometimes a bit scary, just like this single, "Salvation," which was taken from their third album, "To The Faithful Departed" in 1996. You can find the lyric here.

There are lots of Cranberries's "Salvation" live concert video. One of them is here.

Stone Temple Pilots - Interstate Love Song

Stone Temple Pilots published their second album, "Purple" in 1994. The album debuted with "Interstate Love Song" single, which quickly became a big hit. Other hits from the album included "Vasoline" and "Big Empty." Sing it along with this funny (weird) video.

Mr Big - To Be With You

One of best classic rock ever, Mr. Big with their greatest hit song "To Be With You." The song appears on the album Lean into It. "To Be With You" is about a man who has his eye on a well liked woman, but she is taken by another man who is mean to her. Check its lyric here.

Check also this video, live version from Mr. Big's concert in Japan, 1991.

Tesla - Love Song

"Love Song" was a power ballad sang by Tesla. The song was taken from the album "The Great Radio Controversy," released in 1989. When the video was placed in heavy rotation on MTV, the song rocketed to #10 in the U.S. charts, becoming one of the group's biggest hits.

The music video was filmed in the bands home town of Sacramento at the former Cal Expo amphitheater. Old 93 Rock banners can be seen hanging in the back ground. Check the song's lyric here.

Roxette - Listen To Your Heart

Roxette was a great duo from Sweden who has lots of hits since the early 90s. The song "Listen To Your Heart" was taken from their first international album, "Look Sharp!" Roxette recorded the video in the Borgholm Castle ruin on the Swedish Baltic Sea island of Öland. Check also their lyric here.

Alannah Myles - Lover of Mine

A great song from 1989, coming from Alannah Myles. Her voice has reminiscence to Joan Jett of the Blackhearts. Most of Alannah's song are rock ballad. This "Lover of Mine" came from her self-titled album. Check her song's lyric here.

Meat Loaf - I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)

"I's Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)" is a Grammy Award winning song composed and written by Jim Steinman, and recorded by Meat Loaf. The song was released in 1993 as the first single from the album "Bat out of Hell II: Back into Hell." As any other Meat Loaf's song, it was very very long (7 minutes), and the lyric is repeated again and again. However, for me, the combination of rock and opera in the song was really great. It's great to hear it again and again.

Winger - Miles Away

Just like the Wiki said: "Miles Away" is a single released by the American glam metal/hard rock band Winger, from their album "In the Heart of the Young." Released in 1990, the song was a hit back then. You can sing the song here.

Damn Yankess - High Enough

A great song way back when I was entering high school. The group was one of my favorite back then. I remembered listening and singing this song over and over again. Another great classic rock tune!! Check also the lyric here.

Pretty Boy Floyd - I Wanna Be With You

I only know this Pretty Boy Floyd from one album, the one that has "I Wanna Be With You" in it. Just like the name, the group's lead singer dressed himself to looks like a pretty boy (remind me of Boy George). The song itself was (I think) quite lame than other slow rocks from the same generation. Just check out this video and its lyric, if you'd like.

Kix - Don't Close Your Eyes

Another classic not too popular rock band who's not too popular in the 80's, but still has a great single. One slow rock single from Kix that was quite famous was "Don't Close Your Eyes." Still prefer listening to Skid Row than this, though. Check its lyric here.

Survivor - Eye Of The Tiger

This info is from Wiki: "Eye of the Tiger" is a song performed by the American rock group Survivor, and is taken from the album of the same name. It was released on January 1, 1982, and was written at the request of Sylvester Stallone for the film Rocky III.

The song was really inspiring for me back then. And Rocky III was the best Rocky of all! Enjoy this live performance in Japan concert tour, while sing the lyric here.

Gorky Park - Bang

Gorky Park (international title) or "Парк Горького" (Russian title) was a Soviet (later Russian) glam metal band, that gained mainstream popularity in USA during the Perestroyka times. Gorky Park is famous for its kitsch use of western stereotypes of Russians, such as pseudo-traditional clothing, balalaika-like guitar design and Hammer and sickle as their logo. It was the first Russian band to be aired on MTV. Check also the song's lyric here.

Also check out their live performance, also with the same song.

Skid Row - 18 And Life

Skid Row, a classic heavy metal band from the 80's was famous with this very slow rock song, "18 And Life" and "I Remember You." I remember this song very well during my high school year, since most of my friends played this song with guitar or on school's performance. Read the lyrics here.

Nelson - (Can't Live Without Your) Love And Affection

Matthew and Gunnar Nelson (twins) form this group band called Nelson, and have smashing hit single, "Love and Affection" on 1990. Looks funny now seeing this two guys with long blonde straight hair perform this song. They don't have their long hair today, though. You can sing by checking the lyrics here.
