Madonna - This Used To Be My Playground

"This Used To Be My Playground" was a theme song for the film "A League of Their Own," which starred Madonna, Tom Hanks, Geena Davis, and Rosie O'Donnell. The single was a worldwide hit, spent one week at number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in August 1992, and became Madonna's tenth single to reach number one. The song was then compiled in Madonna's 1995 ballads compilation, "Something to Remember." The song's lyric can be found here.

Debbie Gibson - Anything Is Possible

"Anything Is Possible" is taken from Debbie Gibson's third album, titled the same as the single and was released in November 13, 1990, under the Atlantic Records label. The album, though it's quite good, still doesn't has the same powerful beat and emotion compared to her previous albums. However, it's still Debbie Gibson. That day, she was an idol pop, and what she sang, anyone would buy it. See the lyric here.

Vitamin C - As Long As You're Loving Me

One of my favorite artist, Vitamin C (her real name is Colleen Ann Fitzpatrick ). "As Long As You're Loving Me" is a single by Vitamin C released in 2001. This song speaks on Vitamin C's addiction to her fellow mate. This was the second and final single from More. The song was also featured on See Spot Run movie. Sing it here.

Enya - Orinoco Flow

Personally I love the graphic effects of this classic video. Enya's song was also great. "Orinoco Flow" is a 1988 UK #1 single by Enya. The song is often incorrectly referred to as "Sail Away", a phrase repeated during the chorus. The American version of the single, however, was retitled "Orinoco Flow (Sail Away)". Enya also performed 'Orinoco Flow' live at Top of the Pops, broadcast in 1988.

Kylie Minogue & Jason Donovan - Especially For You

These duo was very popular in the 80s. Kylie was still famous now, though Jason was never heard again. The song "Especially For You" was quite special, and was still played on local radios. Though I wonder, why is there no one recycle or make cover of this classic song? Sing it here.

Celine Dion-Where Does My Heart Beat Now

I think it's the first song of Celine Dion when she goes internationally. The song was really powerful, I still fond of this classic song. "Where Does My Heart Beat Now" is a hit song from Celine Dion's English debut album called Unison. It was released as the first single in the United States. Also, check its lyric here.

Paula Abdul - Forever Your Girl

Just like her previous mentioned song in this blog, Paula Abdul also launched this "Forever Your Girl" song as the fourth single from the same titled album. This song was actually my most favorite from that album. See the lyric here.

Mayumi Itsuwa - Kokoro No Tomo

Now this is actually not my favorite song of all. It was my mother's. Way back in the 80s, I keep hearing again and again this song at the morning. However, since I found this in YouTube, I thought it would bring back some of your old memories. Check her song's lyric here.

Belinda Carlisle - In Too Deep

Belinda Carlisle was one of my favorite female singer back in the 80-90s. She started singing with the group The Go-Go's. The song "Heaven Is A Place On Earth" and "Leave A Light On" were the best hit single coming from her. However, this "In Too Deep" song, though was not a big hit, has deep meaning in the lyric. And also has a nice tune.



There's also a live performance of her at 'De Muziekdoos' in Middelkerke (Belgium) on July 1996.

Sophie B. Hawkins - As I Lay Me Down

Now this is really one of my favorite oldies song, Sophie B. Hawkins with "As I Lay Me Down." The song was also part of Dawson's Creek soundtrack. Heather Nova - London Rain

I remembered this song from the soundtrack of Dawson's Creek. I knew Heather Nova from this album, though actually there are lots of her great singles out there, and she has lots of albums. Susanna Hoffs - My Side Of The Bed

Susanna Hoffs, the lead singer from Bangles started her debut album in 1991 with "When You're A Boy" album which was not a commercial success, although it did spawn a U.S. Top 40 hit with "My Side of the Bed". Personally, the album was actually great, reminding me of the good old Bangles day. Check its lyric here.

Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes - I've Had The Time Of My Life

I've just heard the song "I've Had The Time Of My Life" on the radio. I forgot who sang it, and finally realized that the song was a soundtrack from Dirty Dancing, starring Patrick Swayze on his early career. Thought I share this nice song here. Check also the song's lyric here

Paula Abdul - Straight Up

Paula Abdul was a a pop/dance icon from the 80s. Her first album was such a great hits, featuring "Straight Up" as the first single. Way back then, I was totally fall for her song and dance. Not to be too nostalgic, check her video here and its lyric here.

Madonna - Dear Jessie

A really really lovely song from Madonna. "Dear Jessie" has a nice soft tune accompanied with cute animation video. The song was taken from "Like A Prayer" album in 1989. I personally loved this song more than the rest of her "Like A Prayer" album. The song has cute lyrics and it seems that the song is really intended to a young girl.



The song was later covered (in an ugly way) by Rollergirl, who use the song's tune to make a new techno song. Waay ugly, in my opinion.

Amy Grant - Baby Baby

Amy Grant's 1991 "Heart In Motion" was a pop music blockbuster upon its release in March 1991, going to the Top Ten of the Billboard 200. The first single from the album, "Baby Baby," hit the #1 position on the Billboard Hot 100. Also check the song's lyric here.

Alannah Myles - Lover of Mine

A great song from 1989, coming from Alannah Myles. Her voice has reminiscence to Joan Jett of the Blackhearts. Most of Alannah's song are rock ballad. This "Lover of Mine" came from her self-titled album. Check her song's lyric here.

Janet Jackson - Love Will Never Do Without You

Released in 1990, the song "Love Will Never Do Without You" was the seventh single from Janet Jackson's fourth album, "Rhythm Nation 1814." This song was one of my favorite from the album. I think this album was also the best album that Janet Jackson ever recorded. I was still on high school when I heard and bought the album. Read the lyric here.

Celine Dion - It's All Coming Back To Me Now

Celine Dion was a great diva, though I don't quite like some of her songs. However, there is one song "It's All Coming Back To Me Now," that was written by Meat Loaf, that was really great. Just like any song written by him, the song is very long and the lyric is repeated again and again. The video was also remind me of Meat Loaf's video. It has story with start and ending. Irene Cara is an American singer of African, Cuban and Puerto Rican descent. Cara won an Academy Award in 1984 in the category of Best Original Song for co-writing "Flashdance... What a Feeling". It's one of classic song that I really like. Check the song's lyric here.
