Tom Petty - Free Fallin'

"Free Fallin'" is the taken from Tom Petty's 1989 solo album, "Full Moon Fever." The song was written by Petty and his writing partner for the album, Jeff Lynne. Petty and The Heartbreakers performed the song at MTV Video Music Awards in 1989 with Axl Rose, and at the February 2008 Super Bowl XLII Halftime Show. Check the lyrics here.

Toto - I Won't Hold You Back

From Wikipedia: "I Won't Hold You Back" is a ballad by the American pop-rock band Toto, written by Steve Lukather for their fourth album, Toto IV and released in 1982 (see 1982 in music). The song reached the top ten, peaking at #10 in the U.S. on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Check also the lyrics.

Garbage - When I Grow Up

Garbage has quite extensive pop rock song. Some of them has quite weird tunes, but some of them was very expressive. One of my favorite was "When I Grow Up" taken from their "Version 2.0" album in 1998. The song was also the theme of Big Daddy soundtrack. Find the song's lyric here.

Cranberries - Salvation

Cranberries was one of my long time favorite group. The singer, Dolores O'Riordan has a very unique voice that I don't think can't be compared to anyone. Cranberries's video was sometimes unique, and sometimes a bit scary, just like this single, "Salvation," which was taken from their third album, "To The Faithful Departed" in 1996. Mr Big - To Be With You

One of best classic rock ever, Mr. Big with their greatest hit song "To Be With You." The song appears on the album Lean into It. "To Be With You" is about a man who has his eye on a well liked woman, but she is taken by another man who is mean to her. Check its lyric here.

Tesla - Love Song

"Love Song" was a power ballad sang by Tesla. The song was taken from the album "The Great Radio Controversy," released in 1989. When the video was placed in heavy rotation on MTV, the song rocketed to #10 in the U.S. charts, becoming one of the group's biggest hits.

The music video was filmed in the bands home town of Sacramento at the former Cal Expo amphitheater. Old 93 Rock banners can be seen hanging in the back ground. Check the song's lyric here.

Enya - Orinoco Flow

Personally I love the graphic effects of this classic video. Enya's song was also great. "Orinoco Flow" is a 1988 UK #1 single by Enya. The song is often incorrectly referred to as "Sail Away", a phrase repeated during the chorus. The American version of the single, however, was retitled "Orinoco Flow (Sail Away)". Kylie Minogue & Jason Donovan - Especially For You

These duo was very popular in the 80s. Kylie was still famous now, though Jason was never heard again. The song "Especially For You" was quite special, and was still played on local radios. Though I wonder, why is there no one recycle or make cover of this classic song? Sing it here.

Celine Dion-Where Does My Heart Beat Now

I think it's the first song of Celine Dion when she goes internationally. The song was really powerful, I still fond of this classic song. "Where Does My Heart Beat Now" is a hit song from Celine Dion's English debut album called Unison. It was released as the first single in the United States. Also, check its lyric here.

Paula Abdul - Forever Your Girl

Just like her previous mentioned song in this blog, Paula Abdul also launched this "Forever Your Girl" song as the fourth single from the same titled album. This song was actually my most favorite from that album. See the lyric here.

Tears For Fears - Sowing The Seeds Of Love

"Sowing The Seeds of Love" song was taken from Tears For Fears third and final album in 1989, before they break out. I remembered how I really loved the video clip. It was so full of effects and animation that was really great from that time. The song was actually quite long and has decent great lyrics.

Bangles - Manic Monday

The earlieast single from Bangles, "Manic Monday" taken from the album "Different Light" published on 1986. A great melodic song, saying how we always hate Monday morning. Anyway, check the lyric here.

Belinda Carlisle - In Too Deep

Belinda Carlisle was one of my favorite female singer back in the 80-90s. She started singing with the group The Go-Go's. The song "Heaven Is A Place On Earth" and "Leave A Light On" were the best hit single coming from her. However, this "In Too Deep" song, though was not a big hit, has deep meaning in the lyric. And also has a nice tune.



There's also a live performance of her at 'De Muziekdoos' in Middelkerke (Belgium) on July 1996.

Wilson Phillips - Hold On

Back to the early 90s where this great lovable groups Wilson Phillips sang their first hit "Hold On." The album was also great, has really nice and wonderful song. The group consist of Carnie and Wendy Wilson and Chynna Phillips, all are descendants of members of the legendary Beach Boys. Check the song's lyric here.

Cliff Richard - Joanna

A classic song from the 80s, "Joanna" sang by Cliff Richard. A wonderful love song. Well, it reminded me of Richard Marx's song on the same period (or is it every love song is quite the same back then?). Yes, you can also sing the song here.

Boy Meets Girl - Waiting For A Star To Fall

A one hit wonder, but great song nonetheless, from 1989, coming from Boy Meets Girl with "Waiting For A Star To Fall." The song was still played in my radio. It's probably one song that was greatly remembered by the fans, though I wonder, why is the song not being recycled by other group bands? Check the lyrics here.

Amy Grant - Baby Baby

Amy Grant's 1991 "Heart In Motion" was a pop music blockbuster upon its release in March 1991, going to the Top Ten of the Billboard 200. The first single from the album, "Baby Baby," hit the #1 position on the Billboard Hot 100. Also check the song's lyric here.

Manhattan Transfer - Let's Hang On

Manhattan Transfer has evolved and changed over the years. The song "Let's Hang On" was a hit back then, one of the group's song that reach the top ten hit because it has a pop beat. Check the song's lyric here.

Celine Dion - It's All Coming Back To Me Now

Celine Dion was a great diva, though I don't quite like some of her songs. However, there is one song "It's All Coming Back To Me Now," that was written by Meat Loaf, that was really great. Just like any song written by him, the song is very long and the lyric is repeated again and again. The video was also remind me of Meat Loaf's video. It has story with start and ending. Suzanne Vega - Luka

This is one of my favorite 80s song. The song "Luka" from Suzanne Vega second album, "Solitude Standing," was famous back in 1987. I trully love the song beats. I also find the lyric and the chord here.
