Breathe - How Can I Fall

Breathe were a London based musical group formed in the early 80s. The one single that I ever heard of was "Breathe." I don't think that they sing other popular songs. What I loved in this video was in the last part, when the rain falls down. See the song's lyric here.

Roxette - Queen Of Rain

The single "Queen of Rain" was the second single taken from Swedish pop duo Roxette's album, "Tourism: Songs from Studios, Stages, Hotelrooms & Other Strange Places." I don't think I can explain anymore about Roxette other than they are really great singers. Check the lyric's here.

Debbie Gibson - Anything Is Possible

"Anything Is Possible" is taken from Debbie Gibson's third album, titled the same as the single and was released in November 13, 1990, under the Atlantic Records label. The album, though it's quite good, still doesn't has the same powerful beat and emotion compared to her previous albums. However, it's still Debbie Gibson. That day, she was an idol pop, and what she sang, anyone would buy it. See the lyric here.

Garbage - When I Grow Up

Garbage has quite extensive pop rock song. Some of them has quite weird tunes, but some of them was very expressive. One of my favorite was "When I Grow Up" taken from their "Version 2.0" album in 1998. The song was also the theme of Big Daddy soundtrack. Find the song's lyric here.

The song has many live version in YouTube. One of them is here, taken from MTV Live.

There's also another excellent live version. I don't know from where, but it's a great one.

Cardigans - My Favourite Game

The Cardigans's video of one of their single, "My Favorite Game," was very brutal so that it needs to be censored when played on national television. The song was taken from their fourth studio album, Gran Turismo. You can find the lyric here. The video below is the uncensored video, so be sure your kids don't see this.

Cranberries - Salvation

Cranberries was one of my long time favorite group. The singer, Dolores O'Riordan has a very unique voice that I don't think can't be compared to anyone. Cranberries's video was sometimes unique, and sometimes a bit scary, just like this single, "Salvation," which was taken from their third album, "To The Faithful Departed" in 1996. You can find the lyric here.

There are lots of Cranberries's "Salvation" live concert video. One of them is here.

Stone Temple Pilots - Interstate Love Song

Stone Temple Pilots published their second album, "Purple" in 1994. The album debuted with "Interstate Love Song" single, which quickly became a big hit. Other hits from the album included "Vasoline" and "Big Empty." Sing it along with this funny (weird) video.

One of best classic rock ever, Mr. Big with their greatest hit song "To Be With You." The song appears on the album Lean into It. "To Be With You" is about a man who has his eye on a well liked woman, but she is taken by another man who is mean to her. Check its lyric here.

Enya - Orinoco Flow

Personally I love the graphic effects of this classic video. Enya's song was also great. "Orinoco Flow" is a 1988 UK #1 single by Enya. The song is often incorrectly referred to as "Sail Away", a phrase repeated during the chorus. The American version of the single, however, was retitled "Orinoco Flow (Sail Away)". Check the lyric here.

Enya also performed 'Orinoco Flow' live at Top of the Pops, broadcast in 1988.

Kylie Minogue & Jason Donovan - Especially For You

These duo was very popular in the 80s. Kylie was still famous now, though Jason was never heard again. The song "Especially For You" was quite special, and was still played on local radios. Though I wonder, why is there no one recycle or make cover of this classic song? Sing it here.

There are lots of live performance of this song. One of them is this.

The recent live performance was when Kylie sang it with Kermit The Frog.

Celine Dion-Where Does My Heart Beat Now

I think it's the first song of Celine Dion when she goes internationally. The song was really powerful, I still fond of this classic song. There's also her live performance from Super Dave Show in 1991.

Tears For Fears - Sowing The Seeds Of Love

"Sowing The Seeds of Love" song was taken from Tears For Fears third and final album in 1989, before they break out. I remembered how I really loved the video clip. It was so full of effects and animation that was really great from that time. The song was actually quite long and has decent great lyrics.

Belinda Carlisle - In Too Deep

Belinda Carlisle was one of my favorite female singer back in the 80-90s. She started singing with the group The Go-Go's. The song "Heaven Is A Place On Earth" and "Leave A Light On" were the best hit single coming from her. However, this "In Too Deep" song, though was not a big hit, has deep meaning in the lyric. And also has a nice tune.

There's also a live performance of her at 'De Muziekdoos' in Middelkerke (Belgium) on July 1996.

Susanna Hoffs - My Side Of The Bed

Susanna Hoffs, the lead singer from Bangles started her debut album in 1991 with "When You're A Boy" album which was not a commercial success, although it did spawn a U.S. Top 40 hit with "My Side of the Bed". Personally, the album was actually great, reminding me of the good old Bangles day. Check its lyric here.

Eric Carmen - Hungry Eyes

Just like the previous song I post, "Hungry Eyes" was also featured in the Dirty Dancing movie. This romance movie was made way back in 1987 with low budget and no major stars (at that time). Unexpectedly, the movie and its soundtrack become a hit and won several awards. Check its lyric here.

Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes - I've Had The Time Of My Life

I've just heard the song "I've Had The Time Of My Life" on the radio. I forgot who sang it, and finally realized that the song was a soundtrack from Dirty Dancing, starring Patrick Swayze on his early career. Thought I share this nice song here. Check also the song's lyric here

Scarlet was a based vocal duo from England. They consisted of Cheryl Parker (vocalist, guitarist) and Jo Youle (pianist, keyboardist, vocalist). The eventual twosome had their first UK hit with "Independent Love Song" in 1995. The song was really great, and it was one of my old favorite. Cliff Richard - Joanna

A classic song from the 80s, "Joanna" sang by Cliff Richard. A wonderful love song. Well, it reminded me of Richard Marx's song on the same period (or is it every love song is quite the same back then?). Yes, you can also sing the song here.

Madonna - Dear Jessie

A really really lovely song from Madonna. "Dear Jessie" has a nice soft tune accompanied with cute animation video. The song was taken from "Like A Prayer" album in 1989. I personally loved this song more than the rest of her "Like A Prayer" album. The song has cute lyrics and it seems that the song is really intended to a young girl.

The song was later covered (in an ugly way) by Rollergirl, who use the song's tune to make a new techno song. Waay ugly, in my opinion.

EMF - Unbelievable

EMF are a British indie dance band that came to prominence at the end of the 1980s and the early 1990s. The name "EMF" officially stands for "Epsom Mad Funkers." I only knew about this one song. I don't know if there are any album/song other than this "Unbelievable," which lyric can be read here.

Boy Meets Girl - Waiting For A Star To Fall

A one hit wonder, but great song nonetheless, from 1989, coming from Boy Meets Girl with "Waiting For A Star To Fall." The song was still played in my radio. It's probably one song that was greatly remembered by the fans, though I wonder, why is the song not being recycled by other group bands? Check the lyrics here.

And here's a live performance of the group, from 1989's show Top of the Pops.

Amy Grant - Baby Baby

Amy Grant's 1991 "Heart In Motion" was a pop music blockbuster upon its release in March 1991, going to the Top Ten of the Billboard 200. The first single from the album, "Baby Baby," hit the #1 position on the Billboard Hot 100. Also check the song's lyric here.

Janet Jackson - Love Will Never Do Without You

Released in 1990, the song "Love Will Never Do Without You" was the seventh single from Janet Jackson's fourth album, "Rhythm Nation 1814." This song was one of my favorite from the album. I think this album was also the best album that Janet Jackson ever recorded. I was still on high school when I heard and bought the album. Read the lyric here.

Manhattan Transfer - Let's Hang On

Manhattan Transfer has evolved and changed over the years. The song "Let's Hang On" was a hit back then, one of the group's song that reach the top ten hit because it has a pop beat. Check the song's lyric here.

Celine Dion - It's All Coming Back To Me Now

Celine Dion was a great diva, though I don't quite like some of her songs. However, there is one song "It's All Coming Back To Me Now," that was written by Meat Loaf, that was really great. Just like any song written by him, the song is very long and the lyric is repeated again and again. The video was also remind me of Meat Loaf's video. It has story with start and ending. I'm sorry the video can't be embedded. You may check it directly here. Enjoy the video and sing it here.

Check also the live version in Memphis 1997 below.

Just last year, Meat Loaf, the writer, made a new cover from this song. He sang it with former M2M member, the lovely Marion Raven. Check also the video below.

The song was released in 1993 as the first single from the album "Bat out of Hell II: Back into Hell." As any other Meat Loaf's song, it was very very long (7 minutes), and the lyric is repeated again and again. However, for me, the combination of rock and opera in the song was really great. It's great to hear it again and again.

Pretty Boy Floyd - I Wanna Be With You

I only know this Pretty Boy Floyd from one album, the one that has "I Wanna Be With You" in it. Just like the name, the group's lead singer dressed himself to looks like a pretty boy (remind me of Boy George). The song itself was (I think) quite lame than other slow rocks from the same generation. Just check out this video and its lyric, if you'd like.

Kix - Don't Close Your Eyes

Another classic not too popular rock band who's not too popular in the 80's, but still has a great single. One slow rock single from Kix that was quite famous was "Don't Close Your Eyes." Still prefer listening to Skid Row than this, though. Check its lyric here.

Nena, a German singer, born with the name Gabriele Susanne Kerner, launched "99 Luftballoons" in Germany with success hit. The song then was translated to English "99 Red Balloons." The original German version.

The translated English version.

Bonnie Tyler - Total Eclipse of The Heart

I still love this song, even though it was played way back in 1983. Bonnie Tyler's voice was really great and suited with the song. Many singers have tried to cover this song, though I don't think they're really not as good as Bonnie's. It just seems something different with the way Bonnie's singing it. Hmm, I wonder where she is now?

Check also the live version, from 1984, and sing along here.

Nancy Wilson - All For Love

Nancy Wilson, one of the singer of Heart, went solo on 1989 with "All For Love" single. The song was a soundtrack for movie "Say Anything" featuring John Cusack. The song was very pop-like, not like other Heart's song that Nancy and her sister, Ann Wilson, usually sang. This is the lyric that I can find (though I don't think it's really complete).

Breathe - How Can I Fall?

The song "How Can I Fall?" was released in 1988 on album called "All That Jazz." This video was often played on my local television station back then. It was a wonderful and romantic song. Also, all women appeared in this video was really cute. Especially the one who got wet under the rain. You can sing along with this lyric.

The Immortals - Techno Syndrome

I actually don't really like techno music. However, since this song is played over and over again when I watched the not-too-sucks Mortal Kombat Movie 1 and 2, it began to sounds interesting. The theme song was mixed by The Immortals. This "Techno Syndrome" song was then included in "Mortal Kombat: The Album" released in 1994 to accompany the home versions of the video game Mortal Kombat. Anyway, I can't believe I found the lyric of this theme, since there are limited words and are repeated over and over.

Gorky Park - Bang

Gorky Park (international title) or "Парк Горького" (Russian title) was a Soviet (later Russian) glam metal band, that gained mainstream popularity in USA during the Perestroyka times. Gorky Park is famous for its kitsch use of western stereotypes of Russians, such as pseudo-traditional clothing, balalaika-like guitar design and Hammer and sickle as their logo. It was the first Russian band to be aired on MTV. Check also the song's lyric here.

Also check out their live performance, also with the same song.

Enigma - Return To Innocence

"Return to Innocence" is a 1994 song created by the musical group Enigma. The single was the first from their chart-topping second album, "The Cross of Changes." Just as the title said, the video itself was moving backwards, giving symbolic meaning of return to where it was supposed to be. It's really a nice ambient and new wave song. If you can't heard the vocals, you could check the song's lyric here.

Enya - Book of Days

You probably know Enya, the singer who recently fill most of the soundtracks of "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. Back in 1992, she also has a soundtrack song made for the movie "Far and Away." The movie starred Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, and it was really a good movie. The song "Book of Days" was later then compiled in Enya's album, "Shepherd Moons." Sing it by reading its lyric here.

And check also this video, that was taken before live audiences.

Kon Kan - Harry Houdini

Ever heard of Kon Kan? I'm sure you haven't. This duet produced new wave synthpop with great singles such as "I Beg Your Pardon" and "Harry Houdini." They was popular back then in 1989. I remembered seeing their video clips played often in local television station. I even still have their album, "Move to Move." The video was great though, lots of special effect that really inspiring back at the day. You can also check the lyrics here.

Skid Row - 18 And Life

Skid Row, a classic heavy metal band from the 80's was famous with this very slow rock song, "18 And Life" and "I Remember You." I remember this song very well during my high school year, since most of my friends played this song with guitar or on school's performance. Read the lyrics here.

Nelson - (Can't Live Without Your) Love And Affection

Matthew and Gunnar Nelson (twins) form this group band called Nelson, and have smashing hit single, "Love and Affection" on 1990. Looks funny now seeing this two guys with long blonde straight hair perform this song. They don't have their long hair today, though. You can sing by checking the lyrics here.

Carrie Underwood and Heart - Alone

Now this is a mix of classic and current artist. Heart sang again this beautifully classic song "Alone" from 1987, duet with American Idol winner Carrie Underwood. The performance was really really great. Heart's vocalist, Ann Wilson, still has the power to sang this great song. Check the lyrics here.

Bonnie Tyler - Total Eclipse of The Heart

A great song by lady Bonnie Tyler. The song was covered by other artists from time to time. However, I still prefer to hear Bonnie Tyler's version. It's got much more spirit in it. Check the video below. Or, you can also sing it by reading the lyrics here.

Bangles - Be With You

Bangles was a group of 4 women with leading hot singer, Susanna Hoffs. The group was famous back in the middle 80's. One of the group's hit that was covered by other artists again and again was "Eternal Flame." However, in the same album, there's also a full beat song that I still like to hear again and again. It's called "Be With You," sang by Bangles' drummer, Debbi Peterson. Check out the lyrics here.

First Post

Welcome to another one of my vast amount of blogs. This blog will focus on music video clips, especially the classic ones from the 80's and 90's.

I began to listen to old songs again, since a radio from my city airing classic pop and rock songs from the 80's. I knew that I had to start to look for the video clips in YouTube. What do you know? YouTube actually has the complete music video library I've ever seen.

Now in this blog, will embed those videos, especially ones that I'd enjoyed the most. Hah, it's good remembering the good old times.
