Sophie B. Hawkins - As I Lay Me Down

Now this is really one of my favorite oldies song, Sophie B. Hawkins with "As I Lay Me Down." The song was also part of Dawson's Creek soundtrack. The song was also compiled into her second album, "Whaler," released in 1994. Sing it here. Sorry, the video clip was disabled by the poster. So check it directly here.

However, there's a live performance of hers here.

Heather Nova - London Rain

I remembered this song from the soundtrack of Dawson's Creek. I knew Heather Nova from this album, though actually there are lots of her great singles out there, and she has lots of albums. Anyway, check the first song that I like from Heather Nova, "London Rain," and sing it here. The video can't be embedded since it was disabled by the poster. So, just check it directly in YouTube.

Susanna Hoffs - My Side Of The Bed

Susanna Hoffs, the lead singer from Bangles started her debut album in 1991 with "When You're A Boy" album which was not a commercial success, although it did spawn a U.S. Top 40 hit with "My Side of the Bed". Personally, the album was actually great, reminding me of the good old Bangles day. Check its lyric here.

Here's a live performance in 1991.

Another version of her live performance can be seen here (which is quite sexy, I think).

Richard Marx - Endless Summer Nights

Richard Marx was popular male artist back in the 80s. Most of his song strike the top chart easily. Taken from the same hit album that also featured "Right Here Waiting," the song "Endless Summer Night" was also a hit. Richard Marx placed himself in the record books by being the first solo artist to have his first seven singles hit the Top 5 on the US charts. Sing it here.

Glenn Medeiros - Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You

Slow love song from the good old days, Glenn Medeiros with "Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You." The song was originally recorded by George Benson for his 1984 album 20/20. However, the song achieved worldwide success when Glenn Medeiros singing it in 1987 and 1988. Sing the lyric here.

Check this live version from a Swedish TV show.

Eric Carmen - Hungry Eyes

Just like the previous song I post, "Hungry Eyes" was also featured in the Dirty Dancing movie. This romance movie was made way back in 1987 with low budget and no major stars (at that time). Unexpectedly, the movie and its soundtrack become a hit and won several awards. Check its lyric here.

Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes - I've Had The Time Of My Life

I've just heard the song "I've Had The Time Of My Life" on the radio. I forgot who sang it, and finally realized that the song was a soundtrack from Dirty Dancing, starring Patrick Swayze on his early career. Thought I share this nice song here. Check also the song's lyric here

Paula Abdul - Straight Up

Paula Abdul was a a pop/dance icon from the 80s. Her first album was such a great hits, featuring "Straight Up" as the first single. Way back then, I was totally fall for her song and dance. Not to be too nostalgic, check her video here and its lyric here.

The Cars - Drive

Copied from Wiki: "Drive" is a 1984 song by The Cars, the third single from the band's "Heartbeat City" album and their biggest international hit. It was written by Ric Ocasek, and produced by Mutt Lange and The Cars. Lead vocals were by Cars' bassist Benjamin Orr. Check the song's great lyric here.

Chris De Burgh - Lady In Red

Okay, I don't know anything about Chris De Burgh, except that he's an Irish and this "Lady in Red" song was also featured in the 1988 movie "Working Girl." Anyway, it's one of nice romantic song from the 80s. Sing it here.

Paul Young - Everytime You Go Away

The song "Everytime You Go Away" by Paul Young came from 1985. It's such a nice and romantic song. One of the nice 80s oldies. The video's embedding was disabled. So you can check it directly here. Say the words here.

There's also a live performance with George Michael in 1986.

Foreigner - I Wanna Know What Love Is

Copied from Wiki: "I Want to Know What Love Is" is a power ballad recorded by the British-American rock band Foreigner. The song hit #1 in both the UK and the U.S. and is their most successful single. It remains one of the band's best known songs. Sing along here.

The song was covered several years later by Tina Arena.

Roxette - Listen To Your Heart

Roxette was a great duo from Sweden who has lots of hits since the early 90s. The song "Listen To Your Heart" was taken from their first international album, "Look Sharp!" Roxette recorded the video in the Borgholm Castle ruin on the Swedish Baltic Sea island of Ă–land. Check also their lyric here.

Wilson Phillips - Hold On

Back to the early 90s where this great lovable groups Wilson Phillips sang their first hit "Hold On." The album was also great, has really nice and wonderful song. The group consist of Carnie and Wendy Wilson and Chynna Phillips, all are descendants of members of the legendary Beach Boys. Check the song's lyric here.

Here's also their live performance on MTV.

Scarlet - Independent Love Song

Scarlet was a based vocal duo from England. They consisted of Cheryl Parker (vocalist, guitarist) and Jo Youle (pianist, keyboardist, vocalist). The eventual twosome had their first UK hit with "Independent Love Song" in 1995. The song was really great, and it was one of my old favorite. It has lower tone intro and gradually changed higher to the rest of the song. The song later can be found in the soundtrack of "Bed o Roses" movie. Check the song's powerful lyric here.

Cliff Richard - Joanna

A classic song from the 80s, "Joanna" sang by Cliff Richard. A wonderful love song. Well, it reminded me of Richard Marx's song on the same period (or is it every love song is quite the same back then?). Yes, you can also sing the song here.

Madonna - Dear Jessie

A really really lovely song from Madonna. "Dear Jessie" has a nice soft tune accompanied with cute animation video. The song was taken from "Like A Prayer" album in 1989. I personally loved this song more than the rest of her "Like A Prayer" album. The song has cute lyrics and it seems that the song is really intended to a young girl.

The song was later covered (in an ugly way) by Rollergirl, who use the song's tune to make a new techno song. Waay ugly, in my opinion.

EMF - Unbelievable

EMF are a British indie dance band that came to prominence at the end of the 1980s and the early 1990s. The name "EMF" officially stands for "Epsom Mad Funkers." I only knew about this one song. I don't know if there are any album/song other than this "Unbelievable," which lyric can be read here.

Boy Meets Girl - Waiting For A Star To Fall

A one hit wonder, but great song nonetheless, from 1989, coming from Boy Meets Girl with "Waiting For A Star To Fall." The song was still played in my radio. It's probably one song that was greatly remembered by the fans, though I wonder, why is the song not being recycled by other group bands? Check the lyrics here.

And here's a live performance of the group, from 1989's show Top of the Pops.

Amy Grant - Baby Baby

Amy Grant's 1991 "Heart In Motion" was a pop music blockbuster upon its release in March 1991, going to the Top Ten of the Billboard 200. The first single from the album, "Baby Baby," hit the #1 position on the Billboard Hot 100. Also check the song's lyric here.

There's also a rare 12" Video Remix, and can be seen below:

And the live version can be seen here:

Alannah Myles - Lover of Mine

A great song from 1989, coming from Alannah Myles. Her voice has reminiscence to Joan Jett of the Blackhearts. Most of Alannah's song are rock ballad. This "Lover of Mine" came from her self-titled album. Check her song's lyric here.
